You looked beautiful
Oh it was cold, and you were in that coat. The navy blue wool one with the yellow satin insides. It reminded me of the fancy chocolates my mom would buy for us as that chocolate shop in San Fransisco. I sat in the snow covered lawn chairs while you screamed and flailed at no one in particular. I think you might have been trying to call God, but no one picked up the phone. I could smell someone's chimney and I wondered if they were cooking children like the evil witch from Hansel and Gretel. I was silently watching your performance of fateful sinner to an audience that had left for intermission when I realized how badly the shed behind you needed a new coat of paint. When the snow clears, I thought to myself, I will paint that shed. I sat pondering colors from a subtle taupe to a vivid purple knowing full well that I wouldn't be there when the snow cleared.
